Olympic Cyclist of the future...

Max, demonstrating the Olympic Cycling uniform!
An athlete in the making!
On Friday morning Simon van Velthooven spoke to the whole school. He showed us his Olympic Bronze medal and a world champs medal. We all got to hold these as he passed them around the hall. The Olympic Bronze was really heavy! Simon told us he is from the Manawatu and went to Kopane, Newbury and Palmerston North Boys High school and he started cycling by riding to school. He said we could all be athletes we need to train hard and practise lots, he spends about 1000 hours a year on his bike. Simon said this is like learning, we have to practise our learning so we can get better!!
Thanks to Jayden for being the technical expert and Max for showing us what Simon's cycling uniform looks like.
